Are UK Police & Crime Commissioners relevant? YES!

Voter turnout in 2012 was BAD. Now that PCCs exist however, they exercise important powers and the rest of us cannot afford to pretend they do not. What they need is more of a voice, and then the rest of us might start embracing their reality more. Not a few column inches of editorial in their regional press and not through isolated tweets or blog-posts, but via a new channel targeting their stakeholders across UK society. Whilst securitycheck.uk is still in development, this post is therefore a proposition to their association, the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, to get behind securitycheck.uk and serve both our interests in serving the UK.

In due course, the intention is to publish a comprehensive listing of all PCCs and, when elections are up and coming to publish details of all candidates. ALL such people will also be invited to submit think-pieces, discussion papers and any other kind of post that can be considered as legal, true and fair to the future VOICES section of securtycheck.uk, linking back to whatever resources the authors consider relevant. The more such content gets into securitycheck.uk - and it will ultimately succeed with first users being the greatest beneficiaries - the better and more useful this site will become.
