This video is one of two from the New Zealand Fire Service's YouTube channel selected as offering the most relevant advice for UK users. The other is entitled, 'How to fit a smoke alarm'.

At the very least, fit any kind of approved smoke alarms on or near the hallway ceilings on each floor of your premises and then regularly check them, replacing batteries when necessary.
